Carbon Reduction Plan

At QuantSpark, we are committed to driving sustainable change within our organisation and beyond. Our Carbon Reduction Plan sets out how we minimise our carbon footprint, guided by science-based targets, with the goal of achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Tracking our footprint

Our emissions as of the 2024 benchmark:

• Scope 1 (sources the organisation owns or controls, such as fuel burnt in vehicles or combustion in boilers and equipment): 0 tCO2e
• Scope 2 (generation of purchased energy, such as electricity, steam, heating and cooling): 12.9 tCO2e
• Scope 3 (emissions in our value chain not produced by the company itself, including business travel and the extraction and production of purchased materials and fuels): 44.8 tCO2e
• Total: 57.7 tCO2e

Emissions reduction strategies

• Working with building management to ensure utilities come from renewable sources. Reduces Scope 2 emissions by approximately 90%, saving around 11.5 tCO2e per year.
• Purchasing efficient computers and equipment with Energy Star certification to reduce energy usage. Saves 1 tCO2e per year.
• Consolidating office supply orders to reduce transportation emissions. Saves 0.5 tCO2e per year.
• Educating employees on the emissions difference between vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals (2.28kg per meal against 5.79kg per meal). Saves 3 tCO2e per year.
• Reducing waste and further encouraging recycling programmes. Saves 0.5 tCO2e per year.
• Hosting sustainability workshops and training to encourage personal carbon reduction. Indirectly reduces Scope 3 emissions by around 1 tCO2e per year.
• Implementing smart systems to turn off devices after hours.
• Creating a Green Team to monitor progress and propose further reductions.
• Working towards PAS 2060 (Carbon Neutral Certification).

Our targets

We project that carbon emissions will fall over the next five years to approximately 40.39 tCO2e by 2030, a reduction of around 30%, on the way to Net Zero by 2050.
